4th Year Supervision

At this point of time, I'm stressed and worried again.

This time, I'm worried about not getting a good supervisor who genuinely cares for the students and who is willing to share his or her knowledge unconditionally. Or it could be worse, I might not get a supervisor at all... OMG OMG OMG...

Ok, I am exaggerating things. I have emailed a few of them which I am interested in, hoping hard I did not make a fool of myself by asking a few questions. A few replied, a few did not (I assume they are on leave not are not just plainly ignoring my email).

One told me she group was full
(sad case cause I liked her area of research the most);

One told me she wanted to decide by this week
(I think I screwed this big time, worse thing is I did not realise I screwed up until like today! and it's like Thursday!!! praying like a mad women she has not strike me out and no decision has been made.)

One told me we could meet up once I am back in melb and asked me of my thoughts about the area of research.
(I think I failed to answer her question, arghhh.. Shannon how could you???? Once again, I only realise it today after reading through my email again and again. The thing is, I did also read it again and again before sending it out. sigh... and you know what? She has not got back to me since I replied... I smell the stink of rejection coming. sigh... )

One told me she would out me on the list of students interested and meet me end of February.
(What I dont quite get is.. so does it mean I'm in? or does it mean I am just listed as a potential student she may take under her wing? At this point in time, I am assuming the latter. So this one is good news right? Like there is still hope in this... *fingers crossed*.. I better learn from my mistakes)

As for those who have yet to reply.... I really have no idea what to do now. Do I email them a follow up message of do I just take their silence as rejection. sighh...

Lord, I am seriously worried like a mad girl now.. All i think about at the moment is please let them reply me.... and like me... I hope I sounded professional enough... Should I email a few more supervisors? Please, tell me what I should do now. 4th year has not officially started and I'm already stressed. This shows how much I need you.

Take my life and let it be Lord. I find it hard to NOT to worry but I shall try. May I not lose Your reflection on me.

Decision Made

If you've been reading.. You would know that I've been applying for 4th year Psychology course offered by various universities. After months of waiting.. I've finally decided on Deakin.

Reason I picked Deakin over Monash?
1) Monash's course was a freaking 5k more expensive than Deakin!
2) I thought a change of environment would be good.
3) I had 3 friends who all did their 4th year in Deakin (like me graduated from Monash) saying that they never regretted going for Deakin.
4) not really related to this.. but I got rejected by Swinburne.. like what the? oh well.. It is God's will.

I prayed that if i was heading towards the wrong direction that God would shut the door. True enough... He did. So I just wanna thank You Lord!

H.U.G.E. 2011

I can still remember vividly of the first ever HUGE camp I attended back in 2001. It was the first year the camp was conducted. I remember how Pastor Julie Khoo shared her story of how she was abused; I remember the visions I had at that camp; I remember what I wrote down in the list of criteria I wanted my future husband to meet; I remember giving away my favourite B.U.M. watch at that time cause I thought that was what God wanted me to do.. LOL.. Until now I still have no idea if that was what really God wanted me to do. But I sure remember how much i struggled before giving that watch away. I was 13!!! and a B.U.M. watch at that time was precious to me.. yet i felt I had to part with it. Maybe God was testing me.. LOL.

Anyway, 10 years passed. I never would have thought this day would come- the day I received a call to be part of the Y.A. band. For a moment after I hung the phone, I thought I had heard wrongly and maybe I was just asked to be a part of the R.C. worship team. My doubts were clarified when I received another call from another person from another church. It was then that I realised I was really asked to be a part of the Y.A. band for the 10th anniversary HUGE camp.

I have no idea how to express my joy.. and how honoured and privileged to be apart of the band. I never thought I would be part of the team as there are so so so so so many other more talented vocalist out there. Why me? Nonetheless, I still wanna thank God for this opportunity to be able to serve Him in such a manner. I am truly unworthy but yet He still gave...

How much is too much of personal info?

Something I've been thinking.... People read my blog to get to know me better but some other use it to find the opportunity to find fault in thing I do or say; some n I hope none use to stalk me of my whereabouts.. N the latter is what I fear the most.. My personal safety.

I hardly blog much about personal thoughts anymore cause I've come to a stage where I feel there is no need to. (but then why am I even blogging now?.. Lol) Anyways, I've been busy living life that I hardly feel the need to blog to kill time like I used to.. =p

Why am I blogging now? Cause some one has been complaining that my blog n our blog is dead... Lol.

I'll still blog once in a while... Thanks to those who have been regularly Checking my blog for updates... Thanks to those who are following my blog with their blogger accounts to which I have no idea who most of them are. thanks to those who actually bothered commenting on some of my posts..

To be honest, I actually do find great joy when people I do not know genuinely comments (not advertising).. I feel like I'm reaching to a much wider audience than what I initially expected. So thanks! Thanks for reading my rants.... =)

4th Year Applications

I am starting to not like university applications... cause they are tiring! I've been busy applying for courses one after another.. and some take way longer than other.Some require you to send in hard copies while others make life more convenient for me by accepting soft copies. I have been experiencing backaches due to me sitting in front of my laptop for long hours.

Sitting in front of my laptop for 5 to 6 hours a day just browsing through university websites for course information. Checking if I meet their entry requirement; double checking if I have missed out any important documents. My eyes are about to dry out and pop out... but thank God I have small eyes (my eye balls are too big to fall through my eye lids and socket.. HAHA).

I have cleared all online applications so far and need to get some documents certified before I can say I am completely done with applications. After applying for all unis in melb. I shall try applying for some universities in Sydney and also Auckland University (I promised I would at least try).

I am having mixed feeling. Sorta worried and nervous about not knowing what to expect. I just pray that if it is God's will for me to continue in the path I have chosen then He is provide the means for me to do so, be it financially or merely open doors.

Lord, I hand my applications into Your sovereign hand. May your favour be upon my applications. I pray that I'll be able to continue with my honours year in a reputable university where I would not only be able to learn and grow academically but also be able to truly enjoy what I am studying and meet God fearing supervisors whom I can get along with well.

Thank You Lord for bringing me this far... I am truly grateful and shall try and stop worrying and just trust in You. =)

Lesson Today

Lesson learned today is to not drop my own standards down to where those road bullies are.

Here's what happened today: I was driving along Jalan Ampang and as usual, it was jammed at a certain section. So made sure I was on the correct lane, which I would turn left further down the road. I didn't stop on the yellow boxes so cars from the other direction could cross, I kept my safety distance from the car in front of me and minded my own business throughout the time I was stuck in the jam. Then.... I saw this HUGE vehicle who made an illegal turn and worse still fought to come into my lane after a freaking long wait! I couldnt take it. In my mind, I was thinking "what the heck! Just because you drive a SUPER HUGE CAR that does not give you any reason do break the traffic law and worse still cut into my lane when there was clearly very little room between my car and the car in front. For that split few seconds, MY RAGE HEIGHTEN! I just couldn't take it being bullied like that... So i fought! I refused to let him cut into my lane... i won...

Even though i 'won' I wasn't happy.. Worse still... I felt awful.. I just got out of church and i didn't even have the decency to let a car go. SHAME ON YOU SHANNON!

But if i don't fight.. road bullies are going to think smaller vehicle drivers are good bully targets.. By not fighting, am i not consenting to that IMMORAL act?

I tried justifying my act by saying he illegally turned and wanted to cut que while tens of cars were PATIENTLY lining up. I hate owners and drivers of HUGE vehicles who think they are the king of the road and that other small vehicle should be afraid of them!! If you want to cut que.. see la if the car wants to let u go... just because u are big it doesn't give u the right to squash smaller cars! It didn't work.

Anyway, I still feel bad for letting a few moments of rage take over the sensible and rational side of me.. Honestly, I regretted.. What is the point of fighting such bullies? should have just let them go.. at least I get to teach them proper manners by setting a good example..

p.s. on a very random note, I actually was thinking of writing up a few boards and leave them in the car.. Boards that write: "NEXT TIME, PLEASE LEARN TO QUE!" or "STOP BEING A ROAD BULLY". lol.

Soo... I've been missing for about a month or so.. Missed me?

Guess not.. cause I don't think anyone is reading this blog really often. Which is cool with me. But i'm still going to write as if you guys are still reading.. =P

Just in case some of you didn't know.. I am back in Malaysia!!!

These are the amazing people I met in melbourne that made my stay in melb so so so so much more memorable.. The help they've given me too, helped me survive my time there. Life would have been so much more boring if it weren't for them! Do i miss them? not really... nyehehe.. that's because I shall be seeing them real soon.

Anyways, I have been a little busy lately.. not with studies though.. LIKE FINALLY!! (though temporary). I've been busy applying for intern positions and also meeting up with long-time-no-see friends. By God's grace, I manage to secure one with the USCI Child Development Center and have another meet up session with Focus on the Family. I am truly grateful for the opportunity given. To be honest, I do not feel like a graduate at all. Maybe that's because I know I am going back to study again... for 3 whole years! Gosh... my friends all give me the stare when they hear I've got 3 more years to go. Sometimes I wonder if it is all worth it. But then, when I remember the real reason I am doing what I am doing, 3 more years is nothing if I become better trained and quipped to help people in need. Hence, I shall not think about it and just go ahead and go through with it.. =)

Soooo... IT FEELS GOOD TO BE HOME!!!! Saw my parents, dealt with Andrew for one whole week, GOT MY CAR BACK, finally got back my temporary-andrew's-room-hue's music-studio bedroom!!! Words can't express how it feels to have back my own space.. a space that I know belongs to me and I don't have to worry about moving my stuff in and out of it. I love my yellow-white-with-a wall mirror bedroom! LOVE IT! Thanks to my parents who paid for it of course.. =)

And.. I did another round of experiment with my new toy!! This time.. it turned out just the way I wanted it to! Glad I invested in one.. hehe.. Btw, I only manage to take one picture before my camera ran out of battery.. so just ignore how serious i look.. =P.. it was a trial shot!

I had a really tiring day traveling for my house to the airport and spent like 4 hours just waiting for my flight.. and when I reached Auckland, I had to wait another hour before i saw Richard cause my flight arrived early! Worse still... my luggage zip broke!!!! like what the.. now i have to go get a new luggage cause the broken zip cant be fixed!.. sigh...

Nevertheless, all my frustration disappeared when I saw Richard walking into the airport to get me.. He would have been enough.. but he wasn't alone... He brought a bouquet of lovely Pink Lilies for me!!!

Nevertheless, would really like to thank my Mum for preparing the dehydration salts, diarrhea pills and panadols... I never would have expect myself to take them.. till today.....

My all time favourite multi-coloured Fossil bag's handlebroke into two all thanks to the Airasia crew who decided to throw my luggage.. sigh... And i have yet to find a bag to replace my fondness of that Fossil bag, which I've used everyday for the pass 2 years!

Anyway, back to why I bought this... It's my little way indulgence after a stressful period of assignments. Instead of spending it on expensive food.. I decided to spend it on something that would NOT make me put on weight! LOL

I learned something new today...

So according to Eysenck's theory of extraversion, Introverts are NOT any less talkative than extroverts, Introverts just need much lesser stimulation to be excited about something... and our cortical cells fires much longer than extroverts. This is why introverts tend to avoid parties (too much stimulation going on, we feel like we will explode staying any longer); we do not mind staying at home whole day just reading; we are good at boring repetitive tasks and make less errors (cause our concentration levels are much higher).

BUT introverts are prone to act upon conditioned thoughts more often than extroverts.... sigh....

I found it pretty interesting! but then again i think extrovert find this kinda information not stimulating enough? LOL =P

Prejudice Vs Discrimination

One of my lecturers in HELP once explained the difference between Prejudice and Discrimination that really enlighten the way I saw things...

It was explained that prejudice equals preference, while discrimination is when you act on your prejudice and eliminate others.

I know a lot of us Malaysian Chinese blame part of the Malay community in Malaysia for preferring their own people and giving them loads of benefits that other don't get. Worse still, Chinese and Indians are treated as 'pendatangs' by certain groups (this is another topic altogether). But, can we really blame them for being prejudice towards their own people and acting on it, hence discriminating?

A small lie is still a lie... it's not any better than a bigger lie.. or so to say.

It got me thinking about my own preferences in life.. have i act on them before and discriminated anyone?

Why would one rather sponsor a healthy child instead of one who need more help- say a sick and handicapped one? (not saying u should not sponsor healthy kids.. )
Do you prefer stray dogs or pedigree? Which one would you help or would rather have?
Companies prefer to hire employees who have connections to other employees in the company.
For me.. i know i hate snakes.. and if i ever see a starving snake.. NEVER in my whole life am i going to save that starving snake!! LOL... just saying...

We would all have our own preferences.. but do we really need to act on those preferences?

Aren't all thing equal?

America fights for human rights and freedom... everyone has a right to live and enjoy life.

I am very sure, we all have our own preferences in life. I personally thing it's ok to have preferences and it's perfectly normal for one to be prejudice. BUT, when it comes to humans, I would think the world would be a much better place if people didn't act on those preferences/prejudices.

Just some food for thought... something that got me thinking lately..

We took a terribly long time to reach the 'Coloured Hut' famous beach in Melbourne ~ Brighton Beach.

All because the Melb railway decided to do some work on a saturday!

Nevertheless, It was still an enjoyable day with amazingly good weather!

Later that day, we headed to the annual Moomba Festival held in Melbourne CBD.

Well, I might as well just cover all 4! since i've got some time before i start doing more reading again~ life of an arts student.

Retail Therapy

If you've been following my blog, you'll know that I spent half of my summer break in Auckland. During that near 2 months holiday, I did some really ~~SERIOUS~~ shopping. I think i bought what I would consider almost 1 year's worth of shopping if I was back in Malaysia. LOL. I think it was due to the fact that I was on the holiday mode and the having someone really generous paying for some of them.

How do I shop? I normally just scan through the shop from the entrance and if I see anything i like, I check the price and then try in on. If the item was too expensive, I would still just try it on for the sake of seeing how i look and it and take a picture~ in remembrance of the item, which most often is a dress. =) If I can afford the item and really like it, I most often would just buy it. If i like it and it was slightly over budget, I take a few days to think about it and sometimes weeks.. praying hard that if i decided to buy it, it's still there!

I'm a pretty fast shopper, I don't linger in a shop to look at every single item. And when I shop, I literally shop! And, when I am not in the mood to shop.. i just don't.

No idea why i decided to write on it.. Maybe this serves as a reminder: NO MORE SHOPPING TILL MY SEM IS OVER!!!

Positive Psychology

Just by the title itself.. One might think that the lecturer in charge is all smiley and stuff. Well, actually she's not. The topic itself is not new in the psychology field, but it has only been given some weight over the recent 2 decades. Instead of just focusing on the mental disabilities, there is now a group of psychologist who are interested in helping normal people like you and me FLOURISH in life; not just trying to get by each day. This area of psychology, for once, does not focus on helping people remove or get rid of the disorders and/or disabilities get better (from a negative to a zero), but also strive to help this people rise from a zero to positive.

I think this is one of the much needed fields in psychology that really needs to be promoted.. Firstly because it will help remove the stigma and psychologist only helps the sick. Secondly, because this field would help the majority of people out there who aren't suffering from a disorder or disability, FLOURISH. I like how my text book terms it.. FLOURISH: like a flower that blossoms, people can also live a fulfilled, content and meaningful life.

It's the second week of uni and what I've learned has been pretty interesting.. Hopefully, I'll get the most out of it. Maybe even write a thesis on this area of psych.. hmmm....

Random Thoughts

What am I going to do for 6 months if I dont get the job I applied for.... Maybe I should just go get some voluntary work related to my course. I miss Richard. I miss my family. I miss Wenshu and Sui li. And, i'm sick of having to cook for myself everyday.... if I was back in malaysia, I would eat CHEAP CHEAP 'chap fan' everyday!!!

P.S. i got a 75% discount for all 3 bars for choc!!! which BTW i have not touched yet... will see how long i can bear NOT opening them =)

New Lifegroup

Soooo.. this is another late post! LOL..

You know how i wrote that I didn't feel like coming back to melb? like how the small family that i was looking forward to see shattered?

Well, there has been major changes in lifegroup. First change? Obviously would be the leaders leading the group.. Our new group leader will be Yohanand and we are still praying for an assistant leader to step up. Second major change would be the location, we no longer have a place/house to hold the lifegroup.. Hence, it will temporarily be held in Ken and Joy's place. Third major change is that Pris is considering of moving up to Elevate which would be more stable than Oxygen with mostly international students who come and go.

Nevertheless, we had so so so so so many more new faces last friday! And I am so excited! Met new people and made new friends.. All i hope and pray now is that they do found it comfortable and would stay in lifegroup...

All in all, still wanna thank God for a great start in lifegroup.. I pray this year would be a year of growth of the people in lifegroup.. a year of spiritual growth to be exact =)

Lord, I thank You for amazing groupmates last year and I pray that I would again be blessed with awesome groupmates this semester. Please.. and most importantly great and merciful tutors!

The Saddening News

I woke up this morning to check my emails... only to receive a message from my 'ex' lifegroup- Lester- leader saying that he and Kristy would be stepping down from the leadership position!

sigh... it really isn't something I would like to hear first thing in the morning.

I've only got another 6 months in Melb.. and just when I thought at least I had my small family (lifegroup) to go back to, it fell apart... =(

Now there really isn't much reason for my to stay in Melb except for my studies... I really feel like going back home.

My 23rd Birthday

I'm getting older by the day!! Don't really feel it yet though... time just seem to pass so fast.

At 23, I have now new decisions to make in life... The first one that needs to be decided is where I would be pursuing my postgraduate studies. There are so many things that i need to take into consideration before deciding.. cause either option would have a great impact on my future career and relationship. This is something in which no amount of brain juice would be sufficient enough for me to churn out the final answer.. All I can do now is pray and do as well as I can in studies and see where the open doors are.

This is probably my first birthday away from home... and so far.. i wish i was home! At least I know this birthday would be spent with richard... not exactly the whole day but probably the last few hours of it (because he's working full time now).

My goal this year? Is to start eating healthier and start exercising... most importantly? Graduate with flying colours. =)

When Worship Goes Bad

It was my first time practicing with people i have never practiced with...
I had good musicians...and great vocals...
but things just wasnt flowing...
1) i failed to prepare the chords for them
2) no one practiced except for Alan
3) contradicting ideas of how the songs should and could flow
4) me not taking charge of the situation
5) we were practicing in a confined place WITHOUT air conditioning... when the weather is hot and people are agitated and frustrated.. it is BAD! the worse combination you can have. People almost literally became 'monsters' - including me.

All in all.. it was a pretty bad practice...
no one was happy...
I couldn't flow with the spirit. I literally felt stuck- constipation, and it was my fault..

Lord, take charge of the situation.. I can't do this without YOU!!! Take control..
I pray that no matter what, You would open up the gates of heaven and pour out Your Spirit this Sunday.

I pray that everyone would come prepared too.. not just instrumentally.. but also spiritually.
Let Your name be lifted up.
Let only Your name be glorified!

I MISS HOME!!!!

I was bored and decided to watch a movie my friend- Timothy Wong from Hong Kong- recommended. Here's the movie trailer of "Letters to God"- inspired by a real boy who battled with cancer.

The movie reminded me that I had once prayed if i ever to fall sick with any kind of terminal illness, I want to be able to touch people lives just as Tyler did. I prayed for the kinda faith, hope and trust Tyler had for God even when he battled with cancer. I prayed to be a living and walking encouragement to the people around me. So if one day, I am diagnosed with cancer... I pray that my past prayer still stands. I pray that I would still be standing strong in God if that day really came.

HUGE Camp 2010

I pray hard that no one is going to google "HUGE camp 2010"... but anyway, here's what I have to say about this camp.

I've attended a few HUGE camps in the past.. I even remember some of the things i did back in HUGE 2001. *LOL* it's hilarious when I think about it. But that was the past and now I shall write about the one that just passed.

HUGE 2010 was a little different from the rest. It was different in the fact that
1) I thought real hard about whether or not to attend.. (i used to be so excited about it)
2) the amount of campers this year shrunk tremendously compared to previous years
3) I registered under Revival Center and not Church of Praise (JB) which caused me to be labeled as a betrayer.... -.-lll
4) I went for the camp without really knowing what to expect but knew roughly what I was suppose to do.
5) I went for camp in a sick body.

This year, I didn't attend camp with a heart of excitement.. sad to say. It was not like the previous years where I eagerly awaited for HUGE. I personally felt that I was a little too old for HUGE..... I only decided to attend HUGE when in one of the weeks in November, Pastor Lisa, Sui Li and Benjamin all asked if I would like to join- what i now believe to NOT be coincidental. I was reluctant at first... My thoughts being, what am i going to there? I'm not a church leader nor a youth leader, I have been away from Malaysia for 1 year and a half! So if i did go, I am not sure if I would be able to help out and the areas where I am gifted. Non the less, after much persuasion from Ben and Pastor Lisa, I signed up. There were no regrets.

Before camp, I felt God telling me that I would be using the gifts that Pastor Lisa imparted in me... But i doubted if i was really ready. I've used them before, I've seen God move and experienced God using me to touch others. And yet I still doubted myself. Throughout camp, I contemplated of whether or not I should approach Pastor to ask for her permission to pray for others during alter calls... cause like I'm no longer a youth leader. Long story short, First night, I missed. Second night, I missed again. By the third night, i gave up the thought of even praying for others though I really wished I did. Throughout camp, I was waiting and waiting and waiting... for what? For pastor's green light. And finally on the last day of camp, I got it.

Pastor Julie was praying for me... She prophesied, prayed and left. But soon later turned back and said to me... Go pray for the people! I got the green light I needed. I went forth and prayed.

I seriously hope that God was NOT annoyed with me.. for taking to long to respond. I wasn't sure... and needed that little assurance. Lord, I'm sorry for being late...

Another issue that really struck me was me constantly looking back at the days I served in COP. When Pastor Mike shared about his experience of wanting to go back to his old ministry where he felt comfortable. I could relate to what he was sharing. When he shared his prophecy of him being unable to fit into the small coat, it was as if that prophecy was for me. My time in COP had came to an end, at least for the time being. I had grown and learned so much when I was there but God had brought me out so that I could grow in the other areas. Thus, I shall not look back. Seeing the youth in COP being so on fire for God touches my heart and brings me great joy. I pray that that fire would continue to grow and not die off after HUGE.

That's all for this year i guess... I think it was really kind of the COP folks to have had me join their worship team even when I had only been for 1 miserable practice when the rest had been for much more. Thank You Lord, for this chance.. I'm truly my privilege.

HUGE next year?? maybe... it's going to be YA's 10th anniversary.. so it might be more that just HUGE! =)

P.S. it doesnt matter if you're not one of the leaders in church.. you can still use the gifts God gracefully gave to serve others. We do not need a title to serve!!

I have never bothered buying clothes online, due to my fear that yes it does look good on the model but it might look horrible on me!!!

Nevertheless, I decided to give it a shot when Mei Yen shared with me this online store from London that was offering free international shipping!!! ASOS try it out!! it has pretty cool stuff... though if u want a real bargain.. sort the items by price from the lowest to the highest. =)

I think they have been pretty efficient.. I made my order yesterday and they sent me an email last night saying that my parcel was on its way!!! Seriously, i'm really amazed at their speed.. LOL.. pretty noob at online shopping.. HAHA

Being 22 this year... and still trying complete my studies, I realize how half of my high school friends are already in the working force.

They dress differently and talk about what happens at work,
While the rest of us still stuck in uni are STILL going about complaining how stress we are about our assignments and exams. LOL

It makes me wonder how i would be like once I'm out in the working force.
Wearing formal clothing everyday..
No longer talk and vent about assignments
but rather office politics, global news, car loans, house mortgage.

At 22, I'm also waiting for a lot of red bombs to start dropping by next year...
Friends, getting engaged and married.
It's a sign that I no longer a teenager..

Social Theory Essay Marks

Today. i was really nervous about getting my social theory essay back from my lecturer..
I had been struggling really hard to complete the essay as i did not have to text book and the additional readings i have didnt seem to be sufficient for the essay. Worse of all, i kept complaining to everyone who asked me how was my essay..wenshu, sui li, mum, richard, kristy etc.... I was seriously really stressed out about it. I am already struggling to understand what the whole unit is about, lets not talk about writing an essay about it.

All i wished for was a pass...
I kept praying.. Lord, i cant fail this subject.. i dont want to retake it!!!
Lord, a pass and i'll be happy...

What i didnt expect was that as i got my paper back, the lecturer commented that though primary sources (textbooks) were required of me but i did excellent with the secondary sources hence, deserved the 76!!!

This really did make my day =)

Juts want to thank God and give Him, the glory for this. I struggled a lot writting the essay and prayed really hard that i did ok.. well.. i did more than OK for an essay i seriously had NO idea how to write. God really has been faithful in helping me as i try my best and give it my best shot.

Was not able to concentrate on my essay just now.. hence i decided to go take a walk around where i live. I would have never expected that would have taken place.

I was just walking down a road in the residential area i live in when a red car with a (i'm gussing) Mexican guy stopped beside me while i was about to cross the road. He said something that sounded like 'MaMa Rita' and repeated it a few times when i didn't react or want to give him my attention. I stopped and took 2 steps back away from the red car. he then shouted 'beauty' for about 3 times... and drove away when i didn't look at his direction.

For the moment i was thinking.. DIE!! this guy isnt going to kidnap me in broad day light isnt he??
Thank God he drove away..

FYI, i was all covered... no skin exposed at all and i was wearing a black baggy jumper and loose pants.

Maybe he was just drunk..and it wasn't something really big.. but i was still scared for that moment.

Moral of the story, even if you're covered up, you still have to be extra careful!!!!

Uncertainties

Life is full of uncertainties..
You'll never know what is going to happen next.
While most of the time things are pretty normal,
there will bound to be a time when something happens and it messes things up.

I realized that I've been able to handle such uncertainties a little better than I'd used to be.
I'm guessing it's because no matter whatever happens,
I will still have my loved ones around to give me the support I need.

What happens if one of them leaves?
I would be terribly upset...
I do hope that does not happen in the near future...
But i guess at the end of it all,
I still have an amazing God who is always there..
even when i take Him for granted.

As for now, even though i haven't got a clue as to where i would be doing my honours year and master, and haven't any idea when I would be able to be in the same location as Richard, I somehow am less stressed about it. I'm won't say I'm not at all.. but we've done/doing all that we can. Hence, there isn't any point stressing about it. Instead, i've learned to trust God with it.

I remember telling Pastor Lisa how I'm worried about things not working out... She said "Don't worry It will...if people made it work in the days without internet, what more now". That statement gave me the huge boost of confidence to run this L.D.R.. Not forgetting my beloved mum who has also been there to support and encourage me.

In conclusion.. stress no more about your future, for tomorrow shall stress for it's self!! LOL

A Letter from Monash

Today, i finally collected the letter that was sent to my previous place a few weeks ago.
And the letter was from Monash.
I was a little scared by that fact that Monash had sent me a letter.
I kept trying to recall if i did anything wrong that made them send me a letter.

I was wrong...
This was what the letter said:

Dear Choong,

As Head of the School of Political and Social Inquiry (PSI), I would like to congratulate you on the excellent results you achieved for the semester 1, 2010. Your results put you in the top 5% of the second year students studying units for PSI.

Second year is a challenging one and the School wishes to acknowledge your outstanding performance.

This letter totally made my day.. It really did give me the boost i needed to study even harder. I just hope and pray that I get the same letter from the Psychology Department.

Never the less, I just wanna Praise God and give Him all the credits.

Feeling a little stress... cause after receiving the letter, I actually do wanna work harder and stay in the top 5%. But my focus should be on my psychology papers.

He even peels the rambutans on his own.

Hillsongs Conference

Finally, i bought my first ever Hillsongs Conference tickets.

They cost me 179AUD.

I bought my flight tickets too Sydney too.

*instantly felt like like i made a big whole in my bank account*

Anyway, I contacted one of my friends in sydney and she said i could stay with her!!

She's my high school's teacher's daughter, Michelle Leong.

woohoo!!! Free accommodation just in case the rest of my friends who plan to go for hillsongs pull out.

The conference is 5th to 8th of July next year, 2011.

Honestly, i can't wait for it.

Cause by then, i would have been done with my 3rd year studies.

*grins*

I've heard many testimonies of the conference and I believe its going to be an awesome experience.

I dropped my phone and lost quite a number of pictures, hence i don't really have much to post.

Moreover, I'm just too lazy... LOL... plus, I got quite a bit of work to do.

Richard has left melbourne for auckland.
Had a great holiday with him.
Now it's back to studies.
I'm still trying to switch my 'play' mode to 'study' mode.

Am officially in thrid year now.
This is it.
Lord, grant me the knowledge that is needed for me to excel.

I also wanna thank God for this short break and also Richard for flying all the way.

COLD!!!!

Wanna know how cold it was last night here in Melb?

This is what the cold did to my hair oil!!!

So here's how i realised it was frozen.
I dried my hair and wanted to apply some of it on my frizzy hair.
Press once.. nothing came out.
Press second time... why so little one???
Press third time.. what is wrong with the pump?

i flip it over and went..

MONKEY it froze!!!

LOL

Anyway,

I think I'm getting better at handling the cold..

I was in shorts and jumper last night..

and i DIDN'T have to turn on my heater!!!

LOL

I think my body got use to the winter..

I still remember the me wearing at least 4 layers last winter.

Hopefully I'm able to stand the cold for the whole winter.

Woohoo!!

1 Year

I just realised that on the 21st of June, I would have been in melbourne for a full 365 days
(erm... if i count the days i was back in malaysia too .. LOL)

This mean i would have stayed in my current room for a year too.
Sadly, on the 21st of June 2010, i shall be moving to a new place.
A new room.
A new place where I can call home (i hope).

Praying very hard for good and clean housemates.
Praying very hard that the electricity bills in the new place would be affordable.
Praying very hard that I would settle in and get use to the new room before my next semester starts.

I've been pretty blessed so far.
Kristy helped me find boxes to put my stuff in.
Jay Sonn offered to help me shift on Monday if i need help.
Jean Marc agreed to help me shift after his work.
Steph too has offered to help.
I guess i got that covered.

Time flies.. it really does.
I'm gonna see a special someone in 5 days!!!
and i'm going to see a whole bunch of amazing people including my parents in 25!!!
Can't believe I'm so close to going home.

p.s. i posted this now.. cause i won't have time on sunday and monday.

Years of Study

Many has published findings that claim that they have found a connection between genes (or an interaction of genes) to something say- cancer, depression, intelligence or even homosexuality...

After years of studying,
I've come to realize most the the findings were based on a lot of assumptions...
Worst still, some finding were DELIBERATELY fabricated because of political and social reasons
- For example, Burt (1961) concluded there was a significant difference of intelligence level between races. It was found that results were altered to fit his study.

I am not discrediting what science has done for us...
All i'm saying here is..
After so many years of studies, I have come to my own conclusion based on my experience that I personally would be very cautious of what studies/findings I would believe.

Until studies of genes for homosexuality, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia has been replicated by other researchers and until there is solid prove and not ~~'we are not sure which gene but there is interaction between genes'~~ has been put forth and published for the general public, I am just gonna take such study with a pinch of salt.

Something got me thinking today, let's just say (IF) the 'homosexuality gene' has been found, just like the sex gene... where would I as Christians stand in such situation?

Beautiful Woman Conference 2010

Was blessed tremendously at the Beautiful Woman's Conference by PlanetShakers back in 2009. Now I can't wait to go for the one in August this year.

'Ask, Seek and Knock' is the theme for this year.
It's so relevant as to what I'm going through now.
I believe I'm gonna be blessed again this year if not the same amount than much more.
Can't wait to hear from God again!!
Can't wait to gather with thousands of other woman to praise and worship God!!

My Journey Digging Deep

I realized about 2 nights ago that I now read the Bible from the different prospective...
I realized that I now read and view the Word with much understanding and awe.
I have never read the Bible with such understanding and interest.

After reading Dug Down Deep,
I came to see the Word of God not as something that was just God's instructions for life,
but rather a way of God communicating to me;
shedding insight.

Before reading Dug Down Deep,
I dreaded at the sound or thought of orthodoxy, doctrine and theology.
It sounded deep, harsh, dry and lifeless...
Truth is, I didn't even know the meaning of 'orthodoxy'.

Here's what i learned (All quoted from Dug Down Deep, 2010) :

Orthodoxy literally means "right opinion".
In the context of christian faith, orthodoxy is shorthand for getting your opinion or thoughts about God right.

Here's what really got to me and inspired me:
...what Christians need today is HUMBLE orthodoxy.
A lot are turned off by orthodoxy because they have never seen it held humbly.
Younger ones (like me) run away from orthodoxy because of the ~~ARROGANCE~~ and ~~DIVISIVENESS~~ they (including me) associate with those who promote it.

'knowledge puffs up, but love BUILDS up' ~ 1 Corinthians 8:1

Genuine orthodoxy - the heart of which is the death of God's Son for undeserving sinners - is the most humbling, human-pride-smashing message in the world. And if we truly know the gospel of GRACE, it will create in us a heart of HUMILITY and GRACE towards others. It's remembering that angry, unkind opponents of the gospel are human beings created in the image of God who need the same mercy he has shown us. It's remembering that when we're arrogant and self righteous in the way we represent orthodoxy, we're actually contradicting with our lives what we claim to believe.

It is important that we stand for the Truth. However, when this is done with arrogance and when being right becomes more important to us than God- then our theology isn't about God anymore; it's about us.

The solution to arrogant orthodoxy is not less orthodoxy; it's MORE. If we truly know and embrace orthodoxy, it should humble us. When we know the truth about God- His power, His greatness, His holiness, His mercy- it doesn't leave us boasting; it leaves us amazed. It doesn't leave us to a preoccupation of being right but to amazement that we have been rescued.

This book might not been the 'chim-est' book on theology or doctrine or even orthodoxy, available in book stores, BUT it got people like me thinking about genuine orthodoxy and the importance of biblical doctrine.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested- as a START into deeper understanding of orthodoxy, doctrine and theology.

My Only Hope Vanished

I had a sudden urge to check out the University that offered Mid Year intake for Psychology Honours..

And guess what i found?

They CHANGED their course structure before I can even apply....

sigh...

Lord, I am going to trust You in this.

My period if testing...

So much uncertainties...

I am going to graduate very late.......

and it's NOT even because i failed.

Frustrated but at the same time there really isn't much i can do.

sigh

My little self conversation:

I wanna move forward FAST!!!

why rush?

cause I'm already very slow..

and others are affected cause of me graduating LATE.

Choices

Doing what is right is not always easy...
We battle with decisions most of the time because we have our own desires.
We want convenience,
We want comfort.

Most of the time, doing is what i wise requires us to step out of our comfort zone.
It some times even require us to take the extra mile and pay extra costs.

But above all, if doing what is wise bring glory and honor to God.
Whatever extra effort and costs put in would be worth.

Would you take the extra mile or two for Him?

FRUIT of the Spirit

The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

Galatians5:22-23

I just realized one thing about this verse.

The 'Fruit' of the spirit is a SINGULAR noun.

I had always thought is was plural.

as i always hear people say.. the 'fruits' of the spirit.

Question now is:

Could it be that when one has the fruit of the spirit,
one would and is suppose to have all the 9 characteristic of the fruit and not just few of them?

i hope i'm making sense here.. but i really thought it's something worth giving some thoughts on...

Sorry guys for the lack of updates....

have been really busy.

Assignments and exams coming and i had to worry about not having a place to stay...

But thank God it's all settled for now... =)

will thank some pics of the new place i'll be moving to when i move in next month.

I reckon i got a really good deal.

Richard read to me a few portions of the book he is currently reading...

Was really encouraged by the testimonies and real life stories in that book.
Sometimes, I wonder and ask... Lord is this it?
And i hear... Be patient.

Circumstances are not what I hear from God now...
And it should be the least that I should expect.

I am hearing bits and pieces of my prayers being answered.
Circumstances might not be for us...
However, I believe our God is for us.

Pray and be silent.
Listen to what God has to say....
